The lake is an artificial body of water, one of the most
celebrated features of Central Park. I've often sat looking out at it
from one of its shores and find it helps me to unwind after a stressful
day.
There is not now any swans but there are many other birds
here and rowboats usually dot the lake especially during the summer
months, as well as a gondola with a singing gondolier who I find is
best ignored.
This piece may remind some of the old song "Long, Long Ago"
but this is after the fact and wasn't in my mind when I composed the
first 1 minute version for piano solo.
